As you probably know all our work has been with the original
Modula (now referred to by Wirth as Modula-1).
Modula-2 is a rather large language (a la Ada) and is, roughly,
the union of Modula-1 and Pascal with a few Modula-1 features
"cleaned-up". The language is purely an in-house (i.e. ETH-Zuerich)
tool for writing the software for 'Personal Computer Stations'
under development at ETH by Wirth' group. He does not intend to
publish (in a journal) the language definition. He hopes to
have a 'Programmers reference manual' ready in the very near future.
This document is written with only ETH programmers in-mind. However,
I an sure he will send you a copy upon request. (N.B. I do not
know wheter it will be written in English or German!)
Hope this info. is of some help.
Kind regards
Ian Cottam

John,
I'll be at FACC for (at least) one week from Mon. morning
Feb. 5.
I don't think I'll be in my lab this weekend
as we are suffering blizzard conditions here
in York.
Looking forward to dinner!
